Strategic RelationShiftsm “Basic” Program Outline
Note: The “Basic” Two-Part Program contains the minimum elements required to produce effective results. Each program can be custom-designed to fit the objectives and situation

Part I -- Diagnosis

Pre-Program Alliance Health Assessment:

A Diagnostic Survey will be sent to all key stakeholders in the alliance to determine key areas of current strength and key issues that need to improved in the alliance.

Simplicity in Diagnostics

Our team has been conducting diagnostic assessments of strategic alliances for nearly a decade.  However, until now, the process has been too labor intensive (usually requiring many interviews), too costly (because of the labor intensity), and too time consuming (resulting in delays in taking corrective action). Knowing the importance of protecting a company’s substantial investment in alliances, we utilize a simple survey set via the internet.

For the basic Alliance Performance Survey, there are approximately 50 questions:

  • Confidentiality ensured using online technology
  • 3 basic status questions on desired strategic fit, chemistry fit, and operational fit  areas, with 10 detailed questions on each of the three dimensions of fit to assess current status
  • Several questions regarding Strategic Return on Investment,  Fast Time and other appropriate open-ended questions
  • Customized questions as appropriate
  • Practice indicates better answers using the web

Strategic Assessment:

Review of alliance strategy and pertinent background documents, such as the contract, mission  state-ments, agreements, goals, marketing plans, performance results to date, etc.

Custom Design of Workshop

Prior to the Strategic RelationShift Workshop, we will tabulate the Health Assessment for presentation at the workshop. Based on the results in the survey, we will make design revisions to the Workshop (see Part II) to ensure relevancy and impact.

Background Interviews:

Prior to the 2-3 day Workshop session, our team will:

  • Interview 3-5 participants from each company, providing us greater understanding of the survey data to determine:
    • Current Levels of Alliance Capability & Understanding
    • Key Priorities for Curriculum Development
    • Needs, Demands, Problem Areas, and Critical Issues
    • Optimum Team Composition
    • Specific Issues to be addressed
  • Develop a Pre-Work Packet including:
    • Alliance Collaboration Tools
    • Reading Materials (if desired)
